The 23-year-old Chiellini is highly-rated within the Italian game and has been tipped to go onto big things, especially with the likes of Fabio Cannavaro, Marco Materazzi, Christian Panucci, Gianluca Zambrotta and Fabio Grosso all aged 30 or over.
After impressing at Livorno, Chiellini earned a move to Juventus for 6.5million euros but was immediately sold in a co-ownership deal to Fiorentina, where he spent the 2004-05 season.
Following more impressive performances, Juve decided to buy the defender outright and since then, he has gone from strength to strength.
Chiellini was a rock in the Old Lady's defence as they marched back into Serie A and has been just as solid this season where he was part of the joint-second best defence in the league.
He has worked his way through the ranks for Italy, winning the Under-19 European Championship in 2003 while he was named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2007 Under-21 European Championship.
Although he may not feature too much in Austria and Switzerland, the strong and quick defender, who can play in the centre and on the left, is a name to look out for in coming years.
