A squad player for Holland who will compete for the left-back role in Austria & Switzerland but could see action from the substitutes' bench as he did at the World Cup in 2006.
De Cler featured twice during the qualifiers but he has also played in recent friendlies suggesting he is not too far off the starting XI.
The 29-year-old is currently with Feyenoord, who he joined from AZ Alkmaar last year.
De Cler began his career with Ajax's famous youth academy where he started life as a left winger despite being a central defender when he joined them.
He soon found his feet at left-back and was handed his first-team debut in 1998 and despite battling against the likes of Cristian Chivu, Maxwell and John O'Brien he managed a number of games.
But in 2002, De Cler opted to depart and he joined AZ Alkmaar who he helped establish as a force in Dutch football, but he decided to quit in 2007 and was one of a host of experienced internationals snapped up by Feyenoord last summer.
